2 Day Bathing Assistant Course

Want to work in a salon but don't have the experience employers are asking for? Do you want to work with dogs but don't want to do the styling side of things? This course is aimed at those who want to work in a dog grooming salon or kennels but don't want to be a stylist.
In this course you will have hands-on learning in which you will learn how to bath, dry and fluff dry different breeds and the different techniques needed for each coat type. You will also learn how to correctly prep a dog ready for styling. This includes brushing, dematting, deshedding  paw pads trimmed, ear cleaning, and nail trimming. You will also learn the importance of salon maintenance and important things to look out for when bathing a dog. 

This course runs over the space of 2 days, from the hours of 9.30 to 4.30. Tuesdays - Friday, the days will need to be in the same week as each other.
The cost of this course is £290


1 Day introduction into Dog Grooming 

An introduction to dog grooming is suitable for those who are considering a career in dog grooming but are unsure if its for you. This course cannot only help you decide whether being a professional dog groomer is right for you but it can also help decide which course you should take, for example; if you are unsure if you want to groom full time at a professional level and have your own business or to be an assistant stylist in a salon. 
The hours are from 10am to 3pm and can be offered Tuesday through to Friday.

The standard session times can be adjusted if required.
Students will be given a tour of the salon with a quick health and safety briefing before having the opportunity to join in with some of our practical activities. These will include bathing, drying and other elements of basic dog grooming and seeing how a salon is operated. Throughout the session, you will be able to ask any questions and talk to our staff or our students if we have any at that time.

The cost for this course is £90, if an AIM course is booked within 3 months of your introduction this cost will be offset against the total cost


AIM Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming (26 day practical course)

The course is aimed at those who are keen to learn more about grooming a small number of different breeds. Whilst this course teaches the basics of dog grooming, it is insufficient for anyone looking to set up their own salon. Please refer to our diploma courses if you are looking to open your own dog grooming business. No previous qualifications or experience are necessary to complete this course. 

The first day will start with a health and safety induction, along with a tour of the salon and equipment. During each day of the course, you will have the opportunity to bath and groom various breeds of dogs. Equipment and a grooming top will be provided for use on the day. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment or clothes if they prefer (providing it is safe for use).
Total qualification time is 230 hours. Of which 180 hours will be practical learning. 
This course can be undertaken on a flexible basis, ranging from one day a week to a block of five days.
The course will cover a variety of key dog grooming principles including:-
– The correct handling of dogs
– How to recognise health problems
– Brushing, de-matting and bathing
– Basic clipping and trimming
– Nail trimming
– Canine first aid
– dog grooming legislation

AIM Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming  (approx 40 day practical course)

The course is aimed at those who are keen to learn more about grooming a large variety of different breeds to go on to be a stylist or set up your own business. This course is also aimed at learners wishing to progress higher within their career or training in the dog grooming industry. No previous qualifications or experience are necessary to complete this course as this course covers a range of topics and covers all aspects of dog grooming. 

The first day will start with a health and safety induction, along with a tour of the salon. During each day of the course, you will have the opportunity to groom various breeds of dogs. Equipment and a grooming top will be provided for use on the day. Students are welcome to bring their own equipment or use their own clothes (Providing they are safe for use).
Total qualification time is 400 hours. Of which 330 hours will be practical learning. 
This course can be undertaken on a flexible basis, ranging from one day a week to a block of five days. Although we recommend 2 days minimum a week to maintain momentum of education.
The course will cover a variety of key dog grooming principles including:-
– The correct handling of dogs
– How to recognise health problems
– Brushing, de-matting and bathing

Personal Dog Grooming 

Our personal dog grooming course is designed for owners who would like to learn how to groom their own dog under expert tuition. Your dog MUST be due for a haircut for this day to work and you will need to bring them in for the entire day. No previous qualifications or experience are necessary to complete this course. 

The day will start with a health and safety induction. During the day the owner will have the opportunity to groom their own dog from start to finish. Whilst asking as many questions as needed, advice on where to buy the correct equipment and products and a take home sheet containing equipment and product information and where to buy.
The course consists of: Bathing and Drying, Brushing/Combing Out, Feet and Nails, Clipping and Styling, and Guidance notes. Equipment is provided for use on the day and your dog will get plenty of breaks and treats.

The course can be offered from Tuesdays - Fridays. (In certain circumstances, limited Sundays are available at an additional cost) .
The hours are from 10.30am to 4pm

Practice makes perfect day

These days are suitable for those who would like specific training or would like to gain more experience with certain breeds or just an overall improvement to your grooming. They can be tailored to your needs for the specific day.  Cockapoo day, terrier day, handstripping course, or general improvement days are very popular.
This course is ideal for those who haven't had the chance to groom certain breeds or use certain tools on their previous college or training courses or those who need more confidence on a certain breed of dog.
The hours for a full day are 9am to 5pm or these can be split into 2 separate morning sessions

The day will start with a brief health and safety induction. A minimum of two dogs will be groomed on a styling day, but this is breed dependent and this is tailored to your needs. Whilst students are not required to bring their own equipment you can if you prefer. This course is ideal for those who haven't had the chance to groom certain breeds or use certain tools on their previous college or training courses or those who need more confidence on a certain breed of dog.
The cost for this course is £185.
